Alicia Koger Webster

Alicia received her early dance training in Cleveland, Ohio. She danced with the Kent Dance Ensemble in college and graduated from Kent State University with a BFA in Dance as well as a BA in Elementary Education. She has worked for many years as an elementary school teacher and as a dance teacher. For 15 years, Alicia lived in Los Angeles where she took class at Edge Performing Arts Center and Millennium Dance Complex. She also taught at various Los Angeles dance studios. She taught dance full time for The School of Dance and Music in Hermosa / Redondo Beach, California for several years before relocating to Florida and serving as educational director for a local dance studio.

Alicia has more than 25 years of dance teaching experience throughout her career. She instructs all styles of dance, specializing in Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical and Modern. Her talents have been recognized at a variety of national dance competitions with many awards for choreography. Most recently Alicia has been focused on training pre-professional, competitive dancers and is passionate about working with these skilled dancers in a multitude of national competitions.

When she’s not dancing, Alicia enjoys time boating with her husband, Justin, or cuddling her big sweet dog, Josie!

Madeline Barnes

Instructor

Madeline grew up in the Tampa Bay Area where she began her dance training at age 7. She has been trained in the areas of ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, modern, and hip hop. She was a finalist in Walker’s Rising Stars Scholarship competition in 2007. After high school, Madeline pursued her dance career in Philadelphia at The University of the Arts where she studied under Kim Bears-Bailey, Silvana Cardell, Curt Haworth, Jennifer Johnson, and Brian Sanders. After a summer at the American Dance Festival at Duke University, she developed an even greater passion for modern and contemporary dance. Madeline received her BFA in Modern Dance Performance in 2011. She then worked with various Philadelphia choreographers, worked for Philadelphia Dance Projects, and taught at the Philadelphia Dance Academy. Madeline returned to Tampa Bay in 2012 and danced with Shoes At The Door, taught at several dance studios and performing arts centers, and got married to her high school sweetheart! She teaches tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, and contemporary and is very excited to be a part of Tampa Bay Dance Academy. As a new mommy, Madeline also looks forward to working with other mom’s and their babies and toddlers.

Miriah Baker

Instructor

Miriah was born and raised in Delaware, where she began her passionate pursuit for a career in Ballet. Previously trained at the Rock School of Dance Education, The Kirov Academy, and the Orlando Ballet, Miriah has 20 years of dance education and experience in Classical Ballet (Vaganova and Cecchetti methods) as well as Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz, Tap and Modern. After performing as a company member with the Ballet Theatre of Maryland for two years, she moved to Florida where she spent two years as a Principal with Tampa Ballet Theatre. Miriah has been a certified Dance Instructor with Florida Dance Masters since 2014 and has also recently earned an Associates of Arts in Business Degree with St. Petersburg College. She is continuing her degree with University of Florida for Business. When she’s not dancing, she and her husband enjoy extensive travel and kayaking with their dog.

Leslie Russo-Misener

Instructor

Leslie Russo-Misener is a former World Champion Gymnast and has been a coach for over 25 years. She has professional experience training athletes – gymnasts and dancers – to achieve excellence. In 1979 she paved the way for the US Women Gymnastics team to be Number 1 at the Olympics.

Tampa Bay Taps, Center for Tap Dance was created to be the epicenter of tap dance in the Tampa Bay area. The Tap Center is a school where any student can excel, thrive, study, and celebrate the art form of tap dance. Tampa Bay Taps strives to promote, expand and preserve this great American art form via education, performance events, and artistic collaboration
